Blending folk, noise, experimental song, and avant-garde poetry, Sophia Djebel Rose invents a new language of her own.
Of Franco-Morrocan heritage, born into the perpetual exile of a childhood divided between two countries, Sophia has turned wandering into her greatest strength _ as a modern poetess, she now takes the stage alone, armed only with an electric guitar, to sing of the beauty of the lands she has ceaselessly left behind.
Her live performances intertwine Mediterranean music with ecological and feminist themes, all of it carried by a syncretic approach that merges into a mysticism meant as an invitation to break the course of things and to reclaim one’s strength.
