Who: Sola Rosa

Electronic
Over more than two decades, Andrew Spraggon has honed a vibrant collision of electronic, R&B, funk, and soul, guided by hip-hop’s sense of rhythm and texture and infused with dance music’s energy. Sola Rosa’s sound is both timeless and forward-thinking, earning him a loyal global following and top-tier collaborators including Tall Black Guy, Hermitude, and DJ Vadim, while amassing over 65 million streams across DSPs. Since winning Best Electronic Release for his debut Solarized at the 2001 New Zealand Music Awards, Spraggon has built a career defined by creativity and collaboration. He’s performed at major festivals including Secret Garden Party (UK), Green Man (UK), Shambala (UK), Kendall Calling (UK), Nostock (UK), Womad (NZ), and Big Day Out (NZ), taking his sound from New Zealand to stages across New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and Berlin. In 2025, Sola Rosa continued his evolution with Jupiter, a shimmering single featuring longtime collaborator Iva Lamkum, reuniting more than a decade after their first release together. Building on that momentum, What You Need (feat. Blush’ko) explored darker, more atmospheric territory while maintaining Sola Rosa’s signature drive and precision. The newest single, Losing Time (feat. Muroki), takes this trajectory further. A mid-tempo, groove-forward track with 70’s inspired horns and a gentle funk pulse. Co-written with Berlin-based Aotearoa artist Muroki, the song explores the tension many Kiwis feel between staying home and venturing into the wider world — a theme mirrored in Muroki’s own move to Berlin. “I first saw Muroki supporting BENEE, and he immediately stood out,” says Spraggon. “Not long after, I heard one of his songs on the radio and reached out about collaborating. It turned out he was already a fan of my work. We quickly found a groove in the studio that became Losing Time.” With In The Mids, Sola Rosa continues to refine his signature blend of groove, atmosphere, and rhythm — music made for both late-night listening and the dancefloor. Sola Rosa will take In The Mids on tour across Aotearoa in May–June 2026. Tickets are available via solarosa.com.
