Kurt Lee Wheeler is a Canton, Georgia-based singer/songwriter that crafts raw, vulnerable portrayals of life in the American Southeast. His latest album, the Jeff Partin-produced Lathemtown, titled after the (quaint farming community) neighborhood he was raised in, finds Wheeler returning 3 years after previous album On Our Way with a set of new originals, reimagined older tunes, and covers of Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These” and Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” bolstered by a wrecking crew of bluegrass musicians including producer Jeff Partin (bass/acoustic guitar/dobro/backing vocals), Aaron Ramsey (mandolin/banjo), Jake Stargel (acoustic guitar), John Rice (fiddle), and Jesse Williams who joins as Wheeler’s duet partner on 2 songs. The album Lathemtown is Wheeler distilled to an organic, acoustic core, with relatable stories of everyday, ordinary people journeying through the ups and downs of life, delivered by worn in melodies and warm instrumentation that feel like home.
