Who: Arkose

Acid Jazz

The dynamic Acid Jazz duo with their signature Diamond-Cut Sound is from Atlanta, GA is called Arkose. They are made up of multi-instrumentalists, Tad Adams who is known for his guitar playing around the Atlanta church scene & Noah Sills who is also known for his saxophone & flute work with # 1 billboard blues artist, Eddie 9V.

The duo met at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, GA which is 40 minutes north of Atlanta in Cobb County. They were both involved in Marching band, Concert band and Jazz band. They found a mutual love for jazz, Rock and Hip Hop Artists like Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Van Halen, MF DOOM, and many more.

They both played horn instruments in school. Tad playing Trumpet and Noah playing saxophone. During a semester of jazz band, Tad decided to bring his guitar. At the Jazz Concert, Tad soloed over Vehicle by The Ides of March. He blew everyone away including Noah, who was one grade younger. Later that night, Noah’s Dad tells Noah, “If you ever have a band, that should be your guitar player. That kid can play!”

That statement would soon turn into foreshadow 4 years later, Noah went to Tad to record some guitar parts. That music was for the For The Love EP that was released in 2019. Shortly after the release, Noah asked Tad if he would like to make this project a duo project. Tad agreed and the two immediately started creating songs in Noah’s moms house. They grab from influences such as: Badbadnotgood, Khruangbin, Kool & The Gang, Jamiroquai, Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind, & Fire & the Isley Brothers.

While changing throughout the years because of members learning new instruments such as flute and clarinet and also improving on recording techniques, Acid Jazz is the best genre to describe Arkose. Their blend of Jazz, House, RnB, HipHop, Soul & Rock is what not only makes them unique to Atlanta, but the whole globe.

We greatly appreciate anyone who uses their time to listen to our music, and I hope that whatever plays on that speaker provides value, comfort, and healing. Thank you to every single person who supports us.

Love, Arkose
