“impossible-to-categorise blend of Indie, Americana and Chicha… on paper that might sound like an unholy mess but in practice it’s a potent blend indeed… superbly eclectic outfit” ★★★★ R2 Magazine
“At its best, it’s a haunting mesmerising stew - the sum, ultimately and rather impressively, outdistancing the parts” 8/10 Uncut
“XIXA brings cumbia music together with the amplified surge of hard rock and the more subtle technicolor of desert indie, and what a beautiful racket they make… For mine, the first brilliant effort for 2016. " 10/10 Soundblab.com
“an immersive listen and a rewarding experience” 4/5 Songwriting Magazine
“Psychedelia, Latin, Country, Rock, African Sounds, Desert Blues, Electronica - XIXA leave nothing out. The nice thing is: it works out great” 4.5/5 Musikexpress
“This trippy music with devilish arrangements is made by gringo zombies lost in Mexico and produced with the help of muy fuerte peppers.” Les Inrocks
“excellent” Rockerilla
The Psychedlic Cumbia-Rock outfit from Tucson, Arizona announces their first ever European Tour, where they present the acclaimed debut album ‘Bloodline’, released on Glitterhouse Records in Europe and Barbès Records in the US and France. The showcases at SXSW presented by Levitation / Austin Psych Fest and GlobalFEST anticipate a month long tour that features, among some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs, also festivals such as Sugar Mountain in Amsterdam’s Paradiso, Germany’s cult sold-out event Orange Blossom and Les Nuits Botanique in Brussels, where XIXA will team up with Steve Gunn and Imarhan, who is featured on the record. After the previous EP “Shift and Shadow”, the band including Giant Sand members Gabriel Sullivan and Brian Lopez released their first full-length in February. The album gained immediate attention, being featured on Les Inrocks, Q Magazine, Sounds and Colours, airplay on KEXP, KCRW’s tune of the day, CMJ rankings, being the only American band in the World Music Charts Europe Top20 and record of the month on French public radio FIP. First summer festivals have been confirmed and announced, while the band will be back on tour throughout fall as well.
