Artist: Villain of the War

Who: Villain of the War

Emo

Over the past couple years in the Boston DIY scene, Villain of the War have made a reputation for themselves with their loud and energetic shows. Their latest EP, “Damn, That’s Crazy”, has been approximately two years in the making and features all of the songs that have become staples of their live performance. A blistering fifteen minutes of unabashed emo punk, Villain’s new record features songs of love, anger, grief, regret, acceptance, and growth.

While their earliest musical influences included punk rock acts like early Clash and the Damned, their newest record evokes a blend of Joyce Manor and Deftones. They played on Boston DIY bills throughout 2019 and into 2020, but were halted by the global pandemic. However, they shifted focus towards finishing their debut EP, and spent January of 2021 recording the drums for the five songs that appear on “Damn, That’s Crazy”. It was released on January 7, 2022.
