Who: Thermal and a Quarter
Thermal and a Quarter, often abbreveated as TAAQ, is a Bangalore, India based rock band formed in 1996. The band consists of Bruce Lee Mani (guitars and vocals), Rajeev Rajagopal (drums) and Rzhude (bass, guitars and additional vocals). Jason Zacharaiah (keyboards), and Prakash Sontakke (slide guitars and vocals) occasionally accompany the band during live shows.
In Thermal and a Quarter’s 12 year career, it has earned quite a reputation for fusing diverse styles into their rock music, from Indian classical music to jazz and funk. The band has released three albums to date: the self-titled debut in 1999, Jupiter Cafe in 2002, and their latest release being Plan B in 2006. The band has toured quite a lot in recent years and has gained quite a fan following from all over the world.
Thermal and a Quarter very recently released their fourth full length album titled This Is It (the follow up to 2006’s Plan B). Multiple Grammy Award winning producer/engineer Jeff Peters, who has worked with the likes of The Beach Boys, Ringo Starr, Sarah Brightman, Brian Setzer etc. has mixed the album. The album has already earned itself a 3 1/2 star review from Rolling Stone Magazine.
