Groove

The Groove Family is a Funk/Soul band founded in 2015 by the Argentine guitarist Carlo «Groove» Lezcano and led by the Dominican singer, Jay Rivera (RASTAÍNO). Their sound, full of energy, contagious grooves and sincere melodies, is influenced by great Soul and Funk classics, while also containing good touches of Rock and Rhythm & Blues. With an overwhelming live performance, TGF has been present at several festivals, as well as on multiple other stages and venues, of the Spanish peninsula.

The band is made up of Jay Rivera (vocals), Carlo Groove (guitar), Miquel Ferrer (drums), Francis García (bass) and Gabri Casanova (hammond, moog synthesizer and keyboards).

Their latest single “Work It Out” was released on March 5th and it is the first of three singles for 2025 in which Jay, who is also a graphic designer, is collaborating with three visual artists from different disciplines to create the artwork for each song. The whole purpose of this collaborative format/project is to build community using their music as a showcase for other artists.

They have an LP to their credit, “Rough Shine” [Roughshine Records / 2023], released on vinyl as an extended edition in 2024; an EP, “#FreePalestine” [Roughshine Records / 2024]; and two singles, “Magnetophon” (2019) and “Audio Tape” (2017), the latter released on 7” vinyl by Sweet Records and distributed by Vampi Soul. Each of these works have been recorded in analogue form under the guidance of Santi “Sweet Fingers” Martin (The Sweet Vandals).

Their songs have been played on specialized radio shows on the BBC (London), Radio Nacional de España and Radio 3; they have also participated in “Los Conciertos De Radio 3”, one of the most important musical broadcasts on Spanish television’s “La 2” TV channel.
