“Rock N Roll Radio is a band that captivates audiences with explosive musicianship—building groove and energy to a thrilling climax—and a distinctive emotional color embedded in a danceable sound.”
Rock N Roll Radio began their full-scale activities in October 2011. With a signature groove and energy, they quickly drew both critics and audiences by carving out their own genre—uplifting yet tinged with a certain sadness.
Starting with winning the Grand Prize at the Korea Live Music Contest in 2012 (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award), they were selected as artists for CJ Cultural Foundation’s “Tune Up.” With the release of their first full-length album Shut Up and Dance in November 2013, they won the Grand Prize at EBS Hello Rookie of the Year (2013), followed by the “Rookie of the Year” award at the 11th Korean Music Awards (2014), completing a “grand slam” of major newcomer honors. They went on to appear on major Korean rock festival stages including Jisan World Rock Festival, Grand Mint Festival, and Let’s Rock Festival, establishing themselves at the forefront of Korea’s band scene.
In 2014, they performed at the U.S. festivals SXSW and CMJ Music Marathon, as well as Culture Collide Festival in Los Angeles and San Francisco. LA Weekly named Rock’N’Roll Radio as one of the standout acts of the festival, writing that “once you hear their laser-punk guitars and grand choruses, you’ll realize Rock’N’Roll Radio is far ahead of what Americans think of as K-pop.”
In 2015, they kicked off the year at MIDEM in Cannes and successfully completed a tour in France. They also recorded and released the EP Life is a dream, We’ll wake up and scream, produced in France by Romain Tranchart of the electronic duo MODJO.
In 2016, they appeared at Shanghai’s Strawberry Music Festival—one of China’s largest music festivals—as well as the Sound of the City festival in Beijing. In 2018, they performed at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany.
In March 2018, they released the EP Festival of Meaninglessness, handling nearly every step of the process themselves from recording to mixing. In February 2019, they returned with their second full-length album You’ve Never Had It So Good—their first in six years—earning widespread acclaim from critics and industry figures alike. They have continued to release singles such as “선잠(Catnap)” (2023) and “몽마(Succubus)” (2025), and remain active to this day.
