RAATS, formed in Montreal in late 2022, brings together personalities from Quebec, Argentina and France. Between ethereal synth trips, powerful drums, effect-saturated bass and raw guitar, RAATS offers a singular musical aesthetic, somewhere between cold wave with shoegaze accents and post-rock shaken with grunge vibes. Largely instrumental, the bilingual band uses vocoder for their vocals, as if to merge lyrics and music more deeply. RAATS draws its inspiration from a broad musical palette ranging from the 70s to the 90s (NEU!, Joy Division, Kraftwerk, The Cure, Air, Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Daft Punk …) to contemporary influences (Model/Actriz, SUUNS, TR/ST, Zombie Zombie, Godspeed You! Black Emperor).
