Hailing from North Africa, Mouhcine rose to prominence as one of the leading lights in Morocco’s electronic music scene. Over the past decade, he has played a pivotal role in shaping Casablanca’s sonic landscape by providing his hometown with a monthly club night back in 2011 while engaging in numerous endeavors in the field of music, laying the foundation for a career defined by innovation and authenticity. Juggling between his studio and the turntables, Mouhcine’s drive and vision expand as he cultivates higher ambitions and focuses on probing musical and vocational know-how throughout the years, leading to the founding of his imprint “ASTROFEVER RECORDS” as the righteous route for the artist to flourish and embrace creative freedom. Sourced from an expansive and mature sound palette, Polyswitch’s works have been praised for their innovative sound and ability to bridge cultural divides. His previously released projects have caught the attention of revered peers worldwide.
Behind the decks, Mouhcine’s performances consistently span a broad range of musical currents, all seamlessly interwoven, anchored in the early motor city sound while uncompromisingly bridging the gap between his native African roots and dance floors. His classification-defying approach, definite taste, and knack for club music of all stripes allow him to tell stories through compelling and memorable musical narratives. In recent years, Polyswitch has been seen performing alongside globally revered acts, namely Moodymann, Gilles Peterson, Theo Parrish, Marcellus Pittmann, Josey Rebelle, and house music pioneer Larry Heard. In late 2019, following his “BOILER ROOM” (https://bit.ly/aexboilerroom) debut and numerous radio appearances, including Red Bull Radio, Rinse, LYL Radio, CDCR, Radio Raheem Milano, Rocket Radio, and Red Light Radio, Mouhcine launched “ASTROFEVER RECORDS RADIO” in partnership with London’s “Worldwide FM” and Amsterdam’s “Echobox Radio,“ a 120-minute monthly broadcast showcasing the many and varied musical currents the artist identifies with while presenting bourgeoning and established like-minded artists from Morocco, its diaspora, and beyond.
After a run of highly-regarded singles and EPs, Mouhcine has shifted his focus to releasing a full-length album in 2022. His latest offering, “PRAISE THE SUN,” consists of 13 tracks, both solo productions and collaborations with artists such as Glenn Astro, Byron The Aquarius, Mark de Clive-Lowe, and Morocco’s globally respected beat-maker Saib. Attesting to his sound signature, the album conveys a unique vision and portrays a testament to the artist’s dedication to his craft and commitment to continuously exploring new sonic territories.
