Artist: Pineapple Road

Who: Pineapple Road

Indie

The year 2024 is an exciting one for Pineapple Road: Named band of the year by Sleutelstad FM, and receiving air time for interviews, songs, and even a live recording from their widely lauded headline show at Leiden’s finest stage, Gebr. de Nobel, there is a lot of momentum going for the indie pop outfit. Founding members Jan Demming (vocals) and Tom van der Laan (vocals, guitar) are joined by Rens van de Peppel on bass and Simon Strotmann on drums, and together the 4-piece bring the compositions from 2 albums to life.

After 2020’s Fruit Machine, 3voor12 likened the sound of 2023’s HONEY to Parcels, and praised the catchiness and creative productions. Comparisons to l’Imperatrice and Balthazar have been drawn as well. The title track of HONEY is a testament to the successful blend between funkiness and electronic feel that characterizes much of the work of the band.

On stage, Pineapple Road present the best they have to offer: Between laid-back The Beach, rock-like African Lodge and electronic banger Your Gravity, the band convince with sunshine from the speakers, good vibes on the dancefloor, and sweet melodies in the air. To add to the experience, Liam Barrett aka. ar.strae joins the live show as a VJ, producing live visuals that are intertwined with the songs. Escaping from their home town, Pineapple Road are now looking forward to conquering clubs and festivals in The Netherlands in the near future, always bringing along their 1-meter tall disco pineapple for the ride…
