Opelousas is a Melbourne-based trio formed by Kerri Simpson in 2018. The band’s unique sound is a blend of blues and rock, with influences from the deep south of the USA. Their debut album, “Opelousafied,” won the award for Best Blues Album at the Music Victoria awards in 2019. The band’s second album, “Opelousafried,” released in February 2024, showcases their evolution in sound and has won Music Victoria’s Best Blues Album of 2024. The trio’s performances are known for their hypnotic grooves and swamp-soaked percussion, leaving audiences mesmerized.
