In 2023, former Japanese idol Ayaka Wada, while studying abroad in Paris, formed LOLOET with musicians in Tokyo in search of freer musical expression. After conducting field recordings in Paris and studio work in Tokyo, they released their first song, “SŒUR,” in October 2023. Following Wada’s return to Japan in March 2024, they released “une petite pensée” on cassette tape and digitally through their own independent label. In May 2025, they released the single “ELLE” on vinyl through Toughbeats. Based on the theme of “Circle of Echoes”—resonating sounds that resonate while interacting with one another—their alternative musical style incorporates ambient drone, dub, experimental music, environmental music, and improvisation influenced by Zen and rituals. They perform not only at live music venues, but also in bookstores, museums, art spaces, and more.
