Who: Lana Jane Turner

Lana Jane Turner (songwriter, vocalist and guitarist) was born and raised on Mi’kma’ki territory, Epekwitk (Prince Edward Island) the ancestral and unceded traditional lands of the Mi’kmaq First Nations. She currently lives in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal. With a BFA from the Concordia Jazz Studies Program, for the past 3 years she has been developing her songwriting project “Mother to Moon”, collaborating and performing around Montreal and PEI with a diverse group of accomplished musicians: Kate Wyatt (piano / MTL), Adrian Vedady (bass / MTL), Ahau Marino (guitar / percussion / MTL), Jonathan Moorman (celtic fiddle / MTL), Ian Toms (guitar / PEI), Chris Martell (bass / PEI) and Aaron Turner (guitar / percussion / PEI). Lana is always aiming to grow her musicianship skills and has been attending workshops with internationally acclaimed jazz vocalist, composer and producer, Ayelet Rose Gottlieb and with Rhiannon, Margie Gillis and the late Jay Clayton.Working primarily within the fields of Jazz, Celtic, and American folk, Since October 2024, Lana has been holding a weekly performance residency at Café Depanneur and has been teaching monthly vocal improvisation workshops for adults at Whitewall Studio in Montreal.Her performance career highlights include: performances with Mamselle Ruiz, (CBC Radio Canada’s Revelation candidate), performances at Nuit D’Afrique festival and performances with ”Alaye”, (Brazilian Maracatu Band), and performances with Ian Toms through “City Stages” on Victoria Rowe (Jazz repertoire and improvisation).Currently, Lana in the process of recording her debut album, to be released on the Montréal-based record label “Orchard of Pomegranates Records” in 2026.
