Lafayette Harris, Jr is a sought after Jazz and Blues pianist, composer and educator. Harris performs and records with Houston Person, Archie Shepp, Lonnie Plaxico, and with his own bands. He’s toured with late great music pioneer Max Roach, performed with the Duke Ellington Legacy Orchestra, and has recorded and toured with four-time Grammy nominee - the late, Ms. Ernestine Anderson.
Harris, who calls legendary pianist and instructor Barry Harris a mentor, and draws on Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, and Scott Joplin as inspiration, Harris has released a total of nine CDs - including his most recent, “You Can’t Lose With The Blues” which held the No. 1 spot on the JazzWeek chart for three weeks, and was the No. 3 top played Jazz album, of 2020.
