Who: HOLY FANDA & the Reverends
Alternative
The band was founded in Prague around 2015 as a CZ-US duo and in 9 years of existence has grown into a six-member international line-up paving the way for its own hardcore-americana & urban-hillbilly genre. The rich and unconventional instrumentation (banjo, harmonium, autoharp, trumpets, accordion and the obligatory core of bass - drums - guitar) often evokes names such as 16 Horsepower, Beirut or Arcade Fire, but behind all this mostly hides simple folk-rock songs following the line of Dylan-Young with influences from the Czech(oslovak) alternative and musical underground. They released two LPs, performed at most major festivals in the Czech Rep, and did full line-up concerts in Portugal, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Romania. As a duo/trio/solo, they toured in a number of other EU countries, Brazil, Canada and the USA. In contrast to the minimalistic and experimental records, there are wild and spontaneous shows, for which they are regularly paired with domestic performances of traveling artists of a similar mind, such as Slim Cessna´s Autoclub, Bob Wayne, Munly & the Lupercalians, Tim Eriksen, Ben Miller Band and others. As an experienced multi-instrumentalist, Holy Fanda is also a sought-after live and studio musician. His many guest appearances with well established bands led him from small clubs and alternative festival stages to sold-out venues and appearing in front of 3000 people or more.
