Galway Guild is a Celtic Rock band from Philadelphia, PA. The band fuses traditional Celtic/Irish music with modern day rock/folk delivering a unique experience designed to energize crowds in pubs, festivals and theaters across the northeast.
Galway Guild was formed after its founder, Joe Magee, visited Galway Ireland in 2010. Exposure to the rebel influenced music of northern Ireland, which included artists such as Luke Kelly and the Wolfe Tones, inspired Joe to bring the sounds, stories, and Irish heritage to Philadelphia.
The band has performed at several Irish Festivals including the Philadelphia Fleadh, Wildwood Irish Festival, Trenton Mercer Irish Fest, and the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The guild is known for high energy performances and their ability to mix styles allows them to excel in a variety of settings. This includes large venues such as Xfinity Live, Tropicana Casino, Harrah’s Casino (Opening for Everlast/House of Pain), as well as a number of nationwide pub chains such as Kildares, Rira, Fado, and Looneys. The band was honored by the Philadelphia Phillies with appearances on the field on Irish Heritage Night and in a music video with the world-famous Phillies Phanatic.
