Originally from Curitiba, Brazil, Gabriel Schwartz holds a bachelor’s degree in classical flute performance from the School of Music and Fine Arts of Paraná. Alongside his classical training, he studied at the Conservatory of Brazilian Popular Music, specializing in flute and saxophone for popular music, as well as arrangement and ensemble performance. He also trained under two major figures in Brazilian harmony, Ian Guest and Vittor Santos. In 2020, he completed a master’s degree in Composition and Sound Creation at the Université de Montréal under Ana Sokolović, and in 2023, he began a doctorate in composition.
