The band were formed in 1998 under the original name Anthracite Minds. Soon renamed Elysium.
Elysium enjoyed modest success around the Essex and London area during 1999-2004 before disbanding. Tragically, James passed away in the summer of 2017. In 2023, the surviving members of the Elysium agreed, with the blessing of James’ family and former band members, to release some of their old recordings to raise money for the suicide prevention charity CALM and in memory of their dear friend James.
The band’s BIG HIT “If You Want to Be Famous” has now been streamed over 135k times on Spotify.
In 2024 Elysium released their first new music in 20+ years - Legionnaire Behind the Lines. Followed by a new single called Anxiety You on 25 October 2024.
The band plan to start playing live and releasing an album in 2025.
