Who: Dynesti
Afro-pop
Welcome to The Dyna, the nourishing and comedic energy delivered by Toronto-based entertainer Dynesti. Backed by a surge on social media and opening performance for Jamaican superstar Sean Paul, she is busy in the ‘kitchen’ putting the final touches on the next instalment of a five-part recording series The Dyna: Say Grace (2021 EP), Breakfast, Lunch, The Last Supper, and Dessert. Through her records, videos and live performances, she invites audiences to take a seat in ‘The Dyna’ to feast on the dynamic alchemy of her sound: royal hip-hop/soul with a dash of rudegyal (feminine Afro-Caribbean attitude). As a fierce rapper, singer and dancer, Dynesti’s infectious spirit can raise the vibration of any space. Being immersed in Jamaican and Trinidadian cultures, she blends together neo-soul, conscious hip-hop and dancehall. Her mother’s battles with depression led to six years in and out of the shelter system, which inspires her to center freedom, honesty and mental health in her art and enterprise.
