Who: AYA YVES
Pop
Aya Yves is a fiercely independent artist and Sydney-based singer-songwriter whose passion for music has been evident since childhood when she and her brother began performing at folk festivals around Australia. Despite her mother’s background in teaching violin, cello, and viola, Aya always knew she wanted to be a singer. She launched the Aya Yves project at the start of 2020, her music has been described as a unique blend of soulful pop and electronic sounds.
Already gaining recognition for her infectious voice and her candidly vulnerable yet confidently fresh soundscapes, her latest single, “feeling small (let the light in),” is an endless-sounding song that captures a feeling of hopefulness that things could be better. Her music is deeply personal and introspective, with lyrics that balance vulnerability with openness. Having grown up in the folk music scene, she aims to write incredibly honest songs that hit hard.
As an artist, Aya Yves is not afraid to take risks, both creatively and personally. She’s worked with an impressive list of names, including LANKS, Bri Clark, Beso Palma, Eliott, Sidney, Lucy Sugerman, Xavier Dunn, Chela, Ben Oldland and Sarah Saint James. Aya hopes that her music will inspire listeners to choose vulnerability and see it as a sign of strength rather than weakness. She wants her fans to know that they are powerful and purposeful beings in the grand scheme of things, and she is committed to evolving and growing as an artist while staying true to her authentic and unapologetic self.
