Who: New Marshall Plan

Indie Pop

We are a Dutch indie band from #utrecht making 80s / 90s / 00s inspired #indie pop / rock. Our band consists of Rogier Werschkull (vocals / guitar), Roeland van der Put (drums / keys / vocals) and David van Putten (drums / keys / guitar). We have been making music together for over 20 years now, but only in 2023 decided to share our work with the world after the unexpected death of Rogier’s dad, changing life’s priorities and finally record the album we always wanted to make.

That debut album, - Escalate -, started its slow-release schedule on the 13th of October 2023, along with 10 (mostly AI generated) music videos on Youtube. We will release a new track every two to four weeks until February 2024.

Our band name is inspired by the post-war recovery program that helped rebuild Europe after WWII. We see our music as a way of expressing our hopes and fears for the future, as well as our love for the past. We’re mainly inspired by 80s bands like Depeche Mode, 90s bands like Interpol, Radiohead and Eels to 00s artists like Editors, The Whitest Boy Alive and Metronomy.

Escalate was recorded in June 2023 at Martijn Groeneveld’s Mailmen studio, a renowned producer who has worked with dutch artists we also like: Blaudzun and Klangstof. The album contains 10 tracks that deal with topics such as corporate greed, war, inequality, fake news and the hard work that relationships sometimes take.
