LÖNA’s melancholic darkpop sound is the perfect Dark & Stormy cocktail. The identical twin sisters mix rough synth sounds with reverbing vocals and a lot of four-to-the-floor beats, to give it a nice kick. The LÖNA-formula is complete when adding heartfelt lyrics about for example the passing of their dad, activism and the longing for love. As you listen to their music, you can imagine a cold and dark Scandinavian landscape, hence their northern-sounding band name which means “valuable” in Swedish. The Dutch twins are inspired by northern acts such as Björk, AURORA and Tove Lo.
