Saxophonist and composer Lachy Hamilton hails from the small community of Scotland Island, Sydney, Australia. He began his professional career at age 16, when he joined the band of jazz legend James Morrison. Currently based in Amsterdam, his musical journey as seen him record and perform with the likes of Tkay Maidza, Lime Cordiale, Donny Benet, Budjerah, Sarah McKenzie and more. His eponymous trio, quartet and octet - the later performing under the name ‘YeahNuptet’ - regularly take the stage throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Lachy established himself as a strong voice in the new wave of Australian improvisers and composers, releasing his debut album ‘Alchemy’ in 2019 to critical acclaim. His sophomore release ‘JAHL HESHI’ was a collaboration with contemporary Harry Sutherland (piano), accompanied by Jacques Emery (bass) and Alexander Inman- Hislop (drums). “JAHL HESHI represents all that is cutting edge in Australian contemporary Jazz today” - Barry O’Sullivan.

Hamilton completed his Bachelor of Music (Hon.) from the James Morrison Academy of Music (university of South Australia) in 2017 where he studied closely with Jeff Clayton, and was the sole recipient of the 2016 Excellence in Performance Award. Hamilton was a finalist in the 2014 and 2015 James Morrison Scholarship, and was selected for the 2015 Telluride All Stars program, studying under Bob Montgomery, Josh Quinlan and Ernie Watts.
