Een gloednieuw, spannend pianotrio heeft zijn intrede gedaan in de Europese jazzscene: Hoff Somsen Lindholm. Jan Gunnar Hoff (NOR), Jasper Somsen (NL) en Carsten Lindholm (DK) delen hun liefde voor Nordic Jazz, vermengd met sterke invloeden van zowel de Amerikaanse jazztraditie als Europese klassieke muziek. De originele muziek van dit sterke Nederlands-Scandinavische trio kenmerkt zich door communicatieve openheid, stilistische diversiteit en esthetische expressiviteit, waarbij hun lyrische composities zich ontvouwen in een stroom van improvisatorische krachten. Jan Gunnar, Jasper en Carsten delen een positieve levenshouding, die duidelijk tot uiting komt in hun composities, improvisaties en hun persoonlijke optredens. Na hun eerste ontmoeting in Bayreuth in september 2023 besloot het trio de studio in te duiken om hun debuutalbum op te nemen. “Northwest” werd opgenomen, gemixt en gemasterd in de prachtige Millfactory Studios in Kopenhagen door geluidstechnicus Boe Larsen. Voor en na de release van het album trad het trio op in Noorwegen, Corsica (Frankrijk), Duitsland en het historisch beroemde Jazzhus Montmartre in Kopenhagen.

Generale repetitie

Als vervolg op het succesvolle eerste album “Northwest” heeft het trio besloten ook een tweede album te maken. Dit tweede album zal in Nederland opgenomen worden. Sterker nog, het album zal de dag na het concert bij Jazz in Wageningen opgenomen worden. Een heuse generale repetitie dus! Who: Carsten Lindholm

Konnakol

Carsten Lindholm is a Danish jazz drummer from the small town Kerteminde on the island Funen.

With roots firmly planted in the Danish soil and with a love for the Nordic jazz genre and the Indian rhythm system konnakol, Carsten invites the audience into a universe - where they can forget time and place, for a while. The focus is on the melody and audience - the expression dynamic.

Carstens first album Tribute 2011 received great reviews and recognition worldwide. After 2nd album Indispiration, he formed the Carsten Lindholm trio - and has since then toured Scandinavia and Europe in different trio constellations.

You might have heard Carsten Lindholm Trio at Elbjazz, Doubletime (DE), Festival Boreales (FR) or Jazzhus Montmartre (DK). Or experienced him with the trio Hoff Somsen Lindholm at Bodø Jazzfestival (NO), Jazz Equinoxe (IT) etc.

In 2024 Hoff Somsen Lindholm released their first album Northwest from Challenge records (NL). The album recieved over 1.7 mill. streams first year. With Jan Gunnar Hoff, piano (NO), Jasper Somsen, double basist (NL) and Carsten on drums - a new album will be recorded in 2025.
