Indiejazz duo Blue Sands, consisting of bass guitarist Reindert Kragt (NL) and singer Esther van Hees (BE), proves that voice and bass can form an exciting and intimate combination. Their sound can best be described as cinematic, dreamy, and quirky, inspired by diverse sources such as Disney movie songs, 90s grunge, jazz standards and classical composers.
In 2020 Blue Sands released their debut EP ‘Flowers Made of Clay’ and in 2022 their first full-length album ‘No Longer Blue’ came out. The most recent release, critically acclaimed album ‘For You’ was released on vinyl in 2025.
Using bass, voice and a selection of effect pedals Blue Sands creates their own universe where they gladly welcome the audience as well as other musicians. The duo has shared the stage with beautiful players such as Mete Erker, Kika Sprangers, Ben van Gelder, Jef Neve, Jeroen van Vliet, Marta Arpini, Anton Goudsmit and Hermine Deurloo.
